Bardenheier Wine Cellars
John H. Bardenheier created the Bardenheier Wine and Liquor Company in 1873 after arriving in the United States in 1965 from Germany. The company later became known as Bardenheier Wine Cellars and was located in St. Louis for several years.
After prohibition act was repealed, the winery had an incredible revival and became one of the largest and oldest family operated wineries in the country. The winery was eventually sold in 1983 and closed its doors a decade later. In 2004, Wayne and Kim Evans, daughter of John Bardenheier Jr., re-established the winery in Richwoods, MO.
The winery has experienced incredible growth over the years and visitors are welcomed to try a number of the custom wines created by Wayne Evans himself including, Whispering Falls, Sunset Serenade, and Old Fashion Concord Grape among others.
